Introduction:
Pueraria (Pueraria lobata), also called Kudzu or Ge-gen or Kuzu, is a coarse, high-climbing, twining, trailing, perennial vine. The huge root, which can grow to the size of a human body, is the source of medicinal preparations used in traditional Chinese medicine and modern herbal products. Pueraria grows in most shaded areas in mountains, fields, along roadsides, thickets, and thin forests, throughout most of China. The first written mention of the plant as a medicine is in the ancient herbal text of Shen Nong (circa A.D.100). Pueraria root is used by traditional Chinese physicians to dispel "pathogenic factors" from the superficial muscles, to reduce "heat", to reinforce yang, to promote "eruption" (inadequate measles eruptions in children), to promote salivation, to relieve thirst (the thirst for alcohol) and to relieve stiff neck with pain due to high blood pressure. It is also recommended for allergies, migraine headaches, and diarrhea.

Chemical Composition:
Puraria root is high in isoflavones, such as daidzein, as well as isoflavone glycosides, such as daidzin and puerarin. Puerarin is its main active constituent. Depending on its growing conditions, the total isoflavones content varies from 1.77-12.0%, with puerarin in the highest concentration, followed by daidzin and daidzein. It also contains triterpenes, coumarins, organic acid, amino acid, trace element etc.

Benefits of Pueraria Extract:
The glycosides in Pueraria extract can cause muscular relaxation, especially in the left coronary vessel, and a decrease in heart rate. The most potent of the herb's glycosides is puerarin.
l Puerarin can increase amplitude of vibration of micrangium motility, improving local volume of blood flow.
l Puerarin and total flavones can dilate coronary vessel, improving blood circulation of heart and cerebral, increasing micrangium motility of amplitude of vibration, improving local blood flow, dilating intracracranial artery, increasing cerebral blood flow (CBF), playing very important role
